Health Care for Everyone
Alabama

Who We Are

 About Us:

Health Care for Everyone – Alabama is a chapter of the national organization, Physicians for a National Health Program. Like offspring everywhere, we’re a little different from our parent.

We’ve chosen a name that signals we’re open to everyone, not just physicians (though the national organization is open to everyone, too). And our name invites like-minded people in other states to form similar organizations, to join us in our cause.

Our emphasis is on advocating a truly comprehensive health care plan that covers everyone…EVERYONE…in the country, without exception. Like Medicare for everyone, with improvements, while maintaining free choice of doctor and hospital. Improvements like elimination of copayments and deductibles that are so terribly hard on low-income people.  We don’t much care how it’s paid for. Our national organization emphasizes ‘single payer.’  We concentrate on what the single payer would be paying for. We agree that government financed health care is the best solution, but believe the payment method is a secondary issue.

While we push for comprehensive, universal health care coverage…as our national organization does…we’re also willing to advocate ‘baby steps’ toward our goal, steps like expanding SCHIP and Veteran’s benefits, and making Medicare and Medicaid financially secure, and many, many others that add to and improve health care coverage.  We recognize the criticism that taking baby steps may make the task of gaining universal, comprehensive coverage...Medicare for Everyone...harder.

Our national organization is a 501-C-3 charitable organization. Donations to it are exempt from Federal Income Tax. Health Care for Everyone – Alabama is a 501-C-4 organization, a designation under the tax code for advocacy organizations. Donations to Health Care for Everyone -- Alabama are not tax exempt.
