WE BELIEVE…that everyone in America should have health insurance. Everyone. The same high-quality insurance. Automatically. Starting at birth. Lasting the rest of your life. Permanent. Irrevocable. No matter where you live. No matter where you work. Or whether you work. NO EXCEPTIONS! Period.
WE BELIEVE…that insurance should be comprehensive. Covering all needed medical and hospital care. Prescription drugs and medical supplies. Mental illness the same as physical illness. All nursing home and home health care. A full range of preventive care. Unlimited choice of doctors and hospitals. Without the copays and deductibles that make illness so hard on low- and middle-income families today, even with insurance.
In other words...improved and expanded Medicare for All.
WE BELIEVE…that only government funded or government-provided insurance, like Medicare, will really cover everyone automatically. However, what’s covered is all that’s important. How it’s paid for can be discussed later.
AND…until true universal care is possible…we will support every proposal that gets more people access to high quality health care. We’ll work with anyone going in this same direction.
NOT FORGETTING FOR A MOMENT… that these are baby steps on the road to the kind of comprehensive, universal health care that all Americans deserve.
